Le Touquet-Paris-Plage to give it it’s full name is a quaint seaside town in the North of France and the inspiration to the very first James Bond, Casino Royale.
I only spent half a day here and part of that I spent performing with a band on the seafront, always good fun and we were lucky as the sun was shining.
When we had some spare time we wandered around to see what Le Touquet had to offer. The town is an old-fashioned and charming mix of independent shops and cosy restaurants. If you like your architecture there are numerous interesting buildings around. Even the Post office looked cool.
The Covered Market apparently a historical monument.
I’d heard that the original James Bond Casino Royale was inspired by Le Touquet, so I was on the look out. I thought I’d found it, took the photo, but unfortunately it turns out it’s not this one. There’s more than one casino, the real casino royale is on the other side of town, oh well.
After having a wander about town we made our way back to the seafront and came across a great little bar called Pirates. It was right on the beach and the waves almost came up to within reach of the tables. Lovely place to sit and chill with a beer.
Just a shame I didn’t have a little longer here, I would of liked to see the view from the top of the lighthouse and certainly of had a go at the sand-yachting on the beach.
If you like your sports or art then this would be a good place to visit and it’s family friendly.

- Hotel, Again there are many from the budget Hôtel Red Fox and then the luxury 5 star hotels like Best Western Le Grand Hôtel and Hôtel Barrière Le Westminster. Prices start from £54 (€61) – £188 (€213) a night.
Here are the things I noticed, but only being there for a short time I didn’t get to do much. Shame I would’ve loved a go at Sand-Yachting.
