Does Mi Sphere stitch video internally, and can the video files be edited in Virb edit or Vegas Movie Studio ? I have just tried the Virb360 but this looks to be pretty close on features (Stabilisation is internal not post) and is a fraction of the cost, so thinking of returning the virb 360 and ordering a Xiaomi instead. Ignoring price, do you think the Virb has much over the Xiaomi ?
Xiaomi stitching is done when you export the files to your phone or using the new desktop software. Your phone does need to have a good enough processor to handle full resolution. You can use virb edit with any 360 cam file, but it’s limited to basics. add text, trimming, slow, fast motion, add music etc. I haven’t used Vegas movie studio, i’m not sure it even supports 360 as yet. You’d have to use Adobe Premier, Powerdirector. There are some free mobile apps like V360, Collect or VeerVR.
For video the virb is one of the best consumer cameras, though the Fusion and Yi should be as good if not better. Xiaomi currently is only 3.5k video, devs announced it will be upgraded to 4k in the next firmware update. Xiaomi takes the best pictures, even better than the new insta360 one or theta v, fusion or Yi. You’d have to go with a £1k+ pro cam for better pics for the moment. In my opinion 5.7k isn’t a big enough jump in quality from 4k to be much of a noticeable difference unless your putting it on a bigger screen like a 50″ TV. The main difference for now is the software provided and Xiaomi is probably the most active with their app and now desktop support. The only things Virb has over Xiaomi is that it’s waterproof and if you do a lot of sports, the overlays are great. If you don’t then you probably wouldn’t use them all to often. For the difference in price I would choose Xiaomi.
Thanks for great info. I think the Xiaomi would suit me better 😉
