You can achieve optical flow stitching on the Xiaomi Mi Sphere by using Yoichi Hirota’s amazing app, MiSphere Converter. You can clearly see with the comparison below there is a big difference between the Xiaomi app and MiSphere Converter. You’ll even notice a difference with the level of the horizon as MiSphere Converter has corrected this aswell.
Both photos have been taken and stitched straight from the camera with no other processing done at all. You’ll have to excuse my ugly mug haha.
I’ve seen many people asking how to do the calibration and were worried it would be to difficult & that they’d waste money if they couldn’t use it as it’s not a cheap app, so I’ve put this together to help show how easy it really is. After you’ve downloaded the double fisheyes to your phone all you have to do is find the file in your gallery and share it to MiSphere Converter:
- Note: the IoS version is unable to stitch raw images
Update: You can now easily download the Raw & unstitched files to your phone in just a few taps. No need to connect to the PC or use cables, find out how here.
