I liked it in here, it has a great selection of ales and they know how to pour a good pint of Guinness, plus you can even take in your own food if you wanted. They do do food themselves, but not everyday.

Built in 1790 as an hotel with stables and a courtyard, the pub has been recently refurbished having a separate bar with a six cask stillage.

This is the only pub in Brixham serving two or three real ales direct from the cask.
Separate restaurant/ function room aimed at both diners and community use, club/group meetings etc.

History

The coaching inn (also coaching house or staging inn) was a vital part providing a resting point for people and horses. The inn served the needs of travellers, for food, drink, and rest. The attached stables, staffed by hostlers, cared for the horses, including changing a tired team for a fresh one. Coaching inns were used by private travellers in their coaches, the public riding stagecoaches between one town and another, and the mail coach. Although many survive, and some still offer overnight accommodation, in general coaching inns have lost their original function mainly due to the development of the railway.
