A virtual tour of the Spinning Wheel one of my favourite pubs in the bay and has always been the go to place in Paignton not just for me, but for many a local & tourist over the years for some decades. Known locally simply as “Spinny” it may not be the oldest pub in town but it is the most well known.
This pub is one of my favourites in the bay and has always been the go to place in Paignton not just for me, but for many a local & tourist over the years for some decades. Known locally simply as “Spinny” it may not be the oldest pub in town but it is the most well known. The beer garden gets the sun virtual all day long and when it does go you can let the heaters take over which are above the majority of the benches. For a few years the sofas around the fire next to the bar were pretty much our seats and where you’d find us on a Friday & or Saturday night. You’ll find live bands or music on almost every night of the week and the food isn’t too shabby either. I especially like the chicken wings. All the staff are always friendly and helpful. If your around during festive celebrations it’s a great place to watch the fireworks and enjoy a pint at the same time.
The beer choice is always good, the only downside I find is that the ales are only available from the downstairs bar, which when busy can be a real pain in the ar$e, especially if you’re sat with all your friends upstairs.
The Spinning Wheel has a long-established reputation for being the No.1 entertainment venue in Torbay. By day a seafront family pub offering a fun play garden and a tasty, varied family-orientated menu. By night one of the best venues you could visit ..for live music, a great atmosphere and dancing until you drop!
Originally the Ramleh Hotel owned by the Beesley family. During WWII the Ramleh Hotel was used by the RAF No.4 Initial Training Wing as accommodation for trainee pilots.
